Kasongan Tourism Village is located in Dusun Kajen, Banguntapan, Kasihan, Bantul, Yogyakarta. In the hamlet area of 49 hectares, the population of 1556 souls, 95% of its citizens earns a meager living as a crafter pottery or known as ‘Gerabah‘, while the remaining farmers and civil servants. Making pottery in Kasongan indeed been handed down from generation to generation from previous generations until now.
When you entering the Kasongan village, in the pages of the house and yard people will easily be seen pottery of different shapes and sizes. Both are still natural red brick, or who has done finishing with colorful painting or other finishing techniques. At the corners of the village will be seen also burning furnaces. If interested, tourists can also helped shape the clay into pottery with the crafters.
